Discussion, debate, research to show that Covid 19 is, in all likelihood, nowhere near as deadly as is still being made out. Good comments will be packaged into posts for the news section of the site.
If Covid is dangerous how do you explain the following:-
We are told there is a danger of asymptomatic carriers. If coronavirus is dangerous, how do you explain asymptomatic sufferers.
The BBC like most of the MSM have been pushing the fear porn narrative. The BBC lists the the number of positive cases but doesn't give information how many are asymptomatic, symptomatic, needed hospitalization. If Covid is so dangerous, why doesn't the BBC give this information. Surely if people had severe symptoms, the BBC would be shouting about this from the rooftops.
The majority of people who have died from Covid are elderly and had pre existing medical conditions and it is not certain if they died from or with Covid. How do you explain this if the disease is so deadly.
Are Covid deaths being dishonestly inflated by adding people who had no symptoms and were not tested. Why would it be necessary to do this if covid was so deadly?
When presenting daily death figures, we are given a number who have died. The impression is given these people have died on the same day but in fact have died over a long period due to the gap between death and registration of death. If Covid was so dangerous why is it necessary to resort to dishonesty?
OffGuardian had an article that under the coronavirus act Covid deaths don't have to follow the same safeguards for registering deaths from other causes which opens the door to falsely class deaths as being from Covid. Why is this necessary with a deadly disease?
If COVID so dangerous, why is there a large body of scientific opinion which questions this?
If those who question how dangerous covid are wrong, why are their videos being removed on youtube rather than address their arguments?
If we are in the middle of a deadly pandemic, why is it that many people in the comments sections of youtube think the whole thing is bullshit?
Why are hospitals which were specially set up to deal with Covid patients empty?
Why is necessary to rely on unreliable tests to establish if people have Covid? Surely if sufferers had severe symptoms, testing would not be necessary.
If we are in the middle of a deadly pandemic with large numbers of people dying or suffering severe symptoms, why is that if it wasn't for media hysteria and government lockdowns, no one would notice we were in the middle of a pandemic?
If coronavirus was so dangerous, why is it necessary to resort to fraud as detailed in the website below to show how dangerous coronavirus is?
In an article dated the 14th of March on the BBC website, it was admitted that 8 out of 10 sufferers will only get mild symptoms. If coronavirus is so dangerous, why is that even the BBC who has been pushing the fear porn narrative admit the disease is not dangerous.
One good source for the basic facts on Covid-19 is the "Swiss Doctor" site which the Lockdown Sceptics blog has linked to several times: https://swprs.org/a-swiss-doctor-on-covid-19/
I would say this site is the best one to point fearful/confused friends, family or colleagues towards to "enlighten" them - it has a very concise summary of the facts and statistics, with links and references, and is regularly updated. Being non-political, and not behind a paywall, also helps.
(Hope this is the right thread for this, didn't really want to create a new one.)
I’m living in Thailand, where new cases in the general population have been at zero for some weeks, and the single-figures cases reported have all been in Thais quarantined upon arrival as they return home. Life in Thailand has, for the moment at least, returned to a kind of normal, albeit with a state of emergency still in place (but that’s for nakedly political reasons). Yesterday I was in a taxi and the radio happened to play the BBC World Service news - to which I never ordinarily listen. I was struck by the tone of the newsreader and reporters: agitated, belligerent, hectoring, manipulative. It reminded me of the shock of coming back to the UK from six years in Sweden, experiencing the vacuous TV-evangelist emoting of Strictly Come Dancing for the first time, and realizing that my country was no longer my country. The World Service was reporting a ban on the sale of alcohol in South Africa in response to a ”second wave”/“spike” (these terms get deployed strategically, depending on the immediate purpose - if it’s to sow a deep, existential dread they go with “second wave”, but if it’s a zingier, sparkly panic they want, it’ll be “spike”). From this distance, it seems to me that Britain has lost its mind. Brainwashed very effectively by broadcasters and the state, a large majority of British people now appear to think that killing off all social, cultural and economic life is a sad but necessary price to pay for achieving some nebulous kind of future immortality, in which they will be locked in suspended animation in their safe bubbles, watching COVID death porn on the news to give their lives meaning. There’s a report today that China could launch a “cyber 9/11” against the UK for failing to kowtow on Hong Kong, Huawei etc., but it seems to me that there’s no need to bother: China has already destroyed Britain by releasing COVID-19 into the wild. Returning to the topic of the thread, therefore: COVID-19 is extremely dangerous. Not as a virus, of course. But because of the lethal cytokine storm it provokes in the immune systems of a few ageing nation states with pre–existing medical conditions.
The test of really knowing the past is the desire to repeat its mistakes.
Freud famously described the human predicament as the process of shaping "hysterical misery into common unhappiness"
We all suffer from this: we wait to live, for we have not the courage of each instant...we do not live in the living present but in a vague and distant future.
The question is what kind of connection we will have toward the future: one of freedom or enslavement?
In the end human existence is not a problem to be solved but a mystery to be lived.
zerosummer's "cytokine storm" metaphor is a very good one... the best metaphor for the world's reaction to the virus, is the way the human body reacts to it (in severe cases). Not only does the "immune system" of government and media over-react to the external threat, it starts reacting to itself, in a self-perpetuating cycle of self-induced suffocation.
